I went to the theatre for the first time in over a decade.

It was a community theatre in the next town over, in a strip mall, they managed to make it spacious feeling while housing about 200 seats or so. I saw a performance of The Woman in The Mirror, a dark comedy about the playwright handing her late mother's Alzheimer's diagnosis and the caregiver's fatigue she experienced. It was sad, it was funny, it was heartfelt. Only three people, and some audio/visuals to tell the story (and a whole lot of fake stage wine).
While I was planning on meeting the owner of the theatre after some emailing back and forth, after I inquired about the possibility of employment at the theatre. Oddly, he didn't seem to be there. I'm sure he was busy with more important things, and it's not like some guy emailing from a week before would be memorable. Also, I didn't loiter around for too long after the play, it's a deeply uncomfortable feeling being the only one standing around as multiple groups are chatting away and you're just kind of there. But maybe one day I'll find a place to work, or at least volunteer, somewhere artsy and fun, because I'm sure as shit not going to last that long in a boring soul-draining type job, I don't have the highest tolerance for bullshit.
I definitely recommend Googling local play theatres near me (just saying theatre apparently pulls up a lot of movie theaters, different kind of performance). Go support your local theatre, I believe they're usually non-profits trying to bring a little culture and art into the community. If you can't make a play, I'm sure they have a donation page. The theatre near me even accepts stageplay submissions for consideration to produce into a real play, and the one near you might too. Support your local artists in whatever medium they pursue; painting , photography, performing arts, etc. It's not an easy road being an artist, so we got to support each other when we can. Because their passion in their art, and sadly I was not born with a passion for a more stable profession like accounting.
