I've been Published (sort of)

I've been published again (sort of)

My local newspaper has a letter to the editor section on their website (unclear if they print them as I'm not a subscriber). They limit your submissions to once a month. Recently, I got my short opinion piece published, for the second time with them. They're hardly dissertations, or short stories or anything, just short pieces giving my opinions about finding a job, and the woes of dealing with interviewers with no awareness. While it doesn't feel like a large victory, I'm not even sure if very many people even read those letters to the editor, it does feel nice to be published somewhere. They're much quicker about deciding what's being published than a lot of literary magazines, and job postings are, to be fair it's a smaller paper so they probably don't receive very many submissions. I'm not sure if I should add them to my writer's resume though, technically I did contribute to a newspaper, kind of, but it doesn't feel like enough to say regular contributor, and certainty not enough to say a journalist, or columnist. These days, I'm just trying to beef up my lackluster resume, and it's a task to feel confident enough in any one particular thing to list it on such an official document. Yes, I did do some photography growing up, and I have some basic graphic design skills with simple programs like Canva, and I know a few Photoshop tricks, but I wouldn't call myself a photographer, and definitely not a professional photographer. Resumes seem suited for education, and jobs, I don't think an employer cares about my past hobbies, they barely seem to care about me as a human being as it is.

But I did get published (kind of) at a place not associated with my alma mater. That's some kind of progress...right?
